Last week we delivered 2 Panathlon Officials Courses in London to leaders who will be officiating competitions next year. The first course was held at Langdon School involving 26 leaders from Langdon School and Royal Docks. The second course at Chessington Community College involving 25 leaders from Chessington Community College and St Phillips school.
“This year we’ve integrated the Panathlon Training and Competitions into the students GCSE P.E. practical coursework. From today’s training the leaders will officiate at an internal Panathlon competition in January (where the Newham team will be chosen), then the first round in February, that we are hosting at Langdon, then the regional final in March at UEL. This group will also set up a lunchtime club to help prepare the Newham Panathlon Team, and that will further add to their sport coaching hours to gain their PE GCSE. Perhaps even they’ll get to go to The Copper Box to officiate at the Panathlon final?”

“We were delighted to be asked to take part in helping with the Panathlon. Before this day I have been involved in preparation training with the leaders as they were very anxious. Today they have grown in confidence, they have learnt a lot and have all been saying how much of an amazing experience this has been for them. This has been such a unique experience. Thank you!”
