Congratulations to all at Altrincham Football Club, who picked up the Promoting Inclusion award for their Alty Ability Programme, in partnership with Panathlon, at the North West Football Awards this week.

The programme is delivered by Altrincham in the Community, the club’s official charity, who offer all kinds of things to support health and wellbeing in people of all ages. With Panathlon, they work in eight local schools, operating within a relatively small catchment area of a six-mile radius around the stadium.

“We started Panathlon in September and that’s really helped us grow into new schools, into new areas, and support more people, which is what we always want to do with the programmes we deliver,” says Simon Dow, head of community.

And they are really proud to pick up this prestigious prize.

“We’re quite a small football club, but we make a huge impact with the resources that we have,” he says.

“A lot of the stuff we do is on our doorstep, and that’s a big thing for us because we could spread the net and go really far afield but we want to work in a small area, we want to concentrate on that area that’s surrounding the stadium, surrounding our area – people that are directly by the football club and have a relationship with the club as well really benefit from what we do.”
