The first Panathlon School Games event took place today at Westway Sports Centre in London. 12 Schools from central London took part, having qualified from earlier rounds of Panathlon, in 4 sports which have also been chosen by the new Government School Games. They were Boccia, Polybat, Table Cricket and New Age Kurling.

80 students took part in an event funded by the British Paralympic Trust who kindly donated the funds to Panathlon to deliver this ground breaking event. Panathlon also worked with Boccia England who ran a talent ID and Classification process with our wheelchair athletes and picked up some new potential talent to route through their competition status.

Additionally Panathlon utilised some of the deaf and hearing impaired students from Oak Lodge school in Wandsworth where we ran a Boccia Young Officials Course in the Summer. Panathlon therfore giving these up and coming aspiring officials the chance to put in to practice their new skills.

After a very competitive days action, the four winners were –
Boccia – Swiss Cottage (Camden)
Polybat – Lilian Baylis (Lambeth)
New Age Kurling – College Park (Westminster) and
Table Cricket – Lilian Baylis (Lambeth)

Many congratulations to all that took part. Check out the Blog and Gallery section for more action ! We look forward to seeing you all soon.
