139 Young disabled people aged between 7 and 11 from 13 schools across 5 East London Boroughs, took part in the Primary Panathlon today at Newham Leisure Centre. Thanks to Cumberland School and their 21 Sports Leaders, the day was a great success as they acted as fantastic role models and offered great encouragement throughout the day.
139 students competed in this development event, which served as a fantastic introduction to Panathlon’s Primary sports, including boccia ball blast and precision beanbag (pictured below).
“My favourite thing of today was playing volleybat. I hit it really fast some times and I liked using the barriers so the ball didn’t always go off the table.” said Navid Islam from Stebon Primary School in Tower Hamlets.

“It’s been a great day, and it shows the demand is there for more of these events- look at all the smiles.” said Steve Peaty Cumberland SSP
This is the first event that has been supported by the recent funding from Wembley National Stadium Trust -thank you.
