In an incredibly tight Essex Semi-Final, two teams scored the same points and both qualified for the Essex Final on June 26th. The Team from NW Essex compromising of Southview School in Witham came 2nd with 50 points after winning Polybat and Field Athletics. But also on 50 points was Tendring team made up of Shorefields School from Clacton and also Marketfields School from Elmstead Market, who won Kurling, Boccia and Athletics Races, and therefore edged the competition on countback.

In 3rd was Harlow Fields with 36 points and 4th was Lexden Springs School representing Colchester.

On hand to make the awards was Richard Chissario, the Essex wheelchair athlete ranked no 1 in UK for 100m and 200m T54 and Nikki, from the Jack Petchey Foundation who have funded the Essex Panathlon programme for the last 5 years.

The College at Braintree provided young leaders for the competition, who had been trained in all the Panathlon sports recently. They performed their duties enthusiastically and with great skill and professionalism. This helps towards their Level 3 Sports Diploma awards.
