Three special schools from NW Essex kicked off the 2010/11 Panathlon season with an enthusiastic performance at Braintree College today. Around 50 Panathletes competed in Boccia, Polybat, New Age Kurling, Field and Athletics Races ably supported by young leaders from Braintree College who completed their Panathlon training last week and then successfully ran the competition today.

In a tight competition, Southview school from Witham narrowly edged out Shorefields School from Clacton, with Marketfield from Colchester in third. (Full scores in the results section)

The Panathlon Challenge in Essex will be supported by the new partnership with Hilton in the Community Foundation, who presented a cheque to the Panathlon Charity for £8,621, which will go towards coaching, equipment and competitions throughout the county in 2011. Many thanks to Hilton in the Community Foundation for their kind support.

The Panathlon competition continues in 2011 with more coaching, equipment supply and the semi-finals taking place in May.

Well done to all that competed today, hope you enjoyed the Panathlon competition.
See you Next year !!
