Panathlon visited Hartpury College on Friday 13th June to host 4 schools for the Gloucester Primary Final. These schools had already competed earlier in the year to qualify for the final. Liz Johnson, Panathlon Ambassador joined us for an exciting day of competition and to help crown our first Gloucester Primary Panathlon Winners.
Blockley, who had won the competition earlier in the year continued their winning streak and took Gold in a tight finish, scoring 229 points. Followed closely by Gloucester Road, in 2nd place with 226 points.
There was some very impressive scoring throughout the day: Gloucester Road scored 23 goals, Paternoster scored 23 points in the Kurling, Blockley knocked the inflatable ball in Boccia Blast 34 times & both Gloucester Road and Blockley got the maximum 30 rallies in the Volleybat. Chesterton scored a huge 84 in the Precision Bean Bag.
Liz Johnson said, “Its great to see a Primary Panathlon in action, I’ve seen this year lots of the Secondary aged Multi-sport competitions, and also the new swimming programme, so its great to see the final piece of the jigsaw, the Primary model, which shows regardless of age, or any disability, Panathlon has something for you.”
The pupils from Blockley School, Alfie, William & Ollie said, “I really enjoyed it. I scored lots of goals in the football skill!” Alfie”It was exciting, racing against other schools.” William”I loved playing Volleybat & Cricket, it’s much better playing other schools, than doing PE at school.” Ollie.
Emma Ayres, Teacher from Paternoster said, “Today was a very accessible event for our younger pupils to get involved in. It’s been a lovely day and it has given us some new ideas for good games to play with them back at school. The leaders have been fabulous. Thank you!”
Ciarian from Chesterton School said, “I can’t wait to get home and back to school, to show this bronze medal off!”
