On the 1st May, Panathlon visited LA Swap in Camden to deliver a VI guide running course to 14 students in preparation for the Westminster Mile in late May. Working in conjunction with England Athletics, a certified guide running coach came in to deliver both practical and theory sessions.
Throughout the day, leaders demonstrated the ability to navigate a range of courses safely, give clear effective and concise instruction to a blind runner and use a range of tethers effectively. From the theoretical part of the session students learnt about different types of visual impairments and how they relate to the various categories within the Paralympics.
The 14 students will now be able to guide visually impaired and blind students at various events and we look forward to working with them again the future.
