On Wednesday 7th June, Panathlon visited Woodson Leisure Centre in Ware for the final Panathlon event in the County for this school year.

The day hosted 7 teams from 7 Schools with 45 children involved from around the area including first time school Meadow Wood.

It was Breakspear school (pictiured top of the page) who took first place and taking a double in the County this year following a multisport triumph earlier in the year.

In an extremely close contest, just two points separated 1st to 3rd, with Breakspear’s winning total being 35 points, with both Meadow Wood and Greenside on 33 points.

Meadow Hall’s second position coming on countback with 2 victories across the activity stations. Amwell View finished 4th 2points back then; a further point separated the remaining schools, Woodfield, Lonsdale and Lakeside.

Darren White, lead Teacher from Breakspear School commented, “on the teams surprise at winning the event and how happy the children had been on returning back to a hero’s welcome at school.”

LeadersRichard Hale School (pictured right) again provided the leaders as part of their Panathlon training programme 17 in total from which 4 were selected to attend the Copper Box  Arena in July for the South East Primary Finals.

Darren White also commented on the leadership skills shown by Richard Hale School, “The leaders were excellent, very patient with the pupils and good communicators.”

Anne Marie Riddle, The Inclusion lead in the County said, “This was the best Primary Panathlon yet and the leadership programme this year has produced some very good individuals. We are going to grow Panathlon again next year in the County.”
