Huge congratulations to Isaac Hay, who finished his year of trying out 100 different sports with the incredible feat of completing an Iron Man!

More importantly, he’s nearing his target of raising £1,000 for Panathlon.

Isaac headed to Tenby, in Pembrokeshire, for his final challenge – which comprised a 3.8km swim in the sea, 180.2km on the bike, followed by running a marathon, 42.2km or 26.2 miles!

And despite picking up a jellyfish sting early on in the swim, he got through the entire course.

“The actual experience of the Iron Man and the day itself – I’ve been told how amazing it was, but my imagination came nowhere near to what it was actually like,” he tells us – adding that the noisy crowds supporting the competitors made it feel like he was centre stage in Wembley Arena.

And what made it even more special was that after he crossed the line and met his family and friends, it was straight into his birthday celebrations!

The children and families that he works with have been fascinated by his year-long challenges, and he hopes he’s given more people the confidence to try out a sport or activity they might not have considered before.

“It’s been such an amazing learning curve,” he says. “Seeing children and parents get back involved with sport – that was my goal, really, through doing it, so it’s just been a fantastic achievement all round and fantastic experience at the same time.”
