Building on the success of last year, Panathlon delivered another swimming event in Kent this week. 31 children from 4 schools competed at Larkfield Leisure Centre in Aylesford. St Nicholas from Canterbury, Milestone Academy from Dartford, Meadowfield from Sittingbourne and Abbey Court from Medway.
The leaders, from Holmesdale School, led an enjoyable aqua-aerobic warm up at the start of the competition getting the swimmers ready for the competition to come. Starting the competition with the individual races including 3 x 25 metre freestyle races, 4 x width freestyle races & 3 x width with float freestyle races. St Nicholas sporting the purple Panathlon swim caps led the way after the individual races. We then went into the team activities playing 3 games of Treasure Hunt with all 4 teams in the water battling it out for all the floats, then the running relay race with all 4 teams waiding through the water as quick as they could in relay across the pool & back again, and finally the raft race, however, in a different format to the usual Panathlon raft race with this race the teams needing to carry one of their team members on the raft instead of floats.
The competition results were as follows,
1st St Nicholas – 38 points
2nd Meadowfield – 32 points
3rd Milestone – 26 points
4th Abbey Court – 20 points
Many Thanks to Charles Harris for supporting this competition.
