Greenbank Sports Academy hosted the Seconday School Merseyside Panathlon, with 86 children from the 6 local authorities taking part in a very highly competitive event with just 2 points separating each of the top three teams, which highlights how much disability sport has developed during the past 12 months.
Many of these children will progress through to compete for the North West in Athletics and Boccia and hopefully some will be selected for the impairment specific National football squads
The event is generously funded by BBC Radio Merseyside Charitable Trust and the Merseyside Sports Partnership.
Steve Sullivan, event organiser from the Merseyside Sports Partnership said “Both events highlighted the wealth of talent on Merseyside which is evidence of the coaching being provided in clubs and schools. Special thanks go to the Panathlon Foundation, all the sponsors, volunteers, coaching staff, officials and teachers who helped to make both days so successful
