We now know the 5 teams that have qualified for the London Final – Holders Barking & Dagenham will be joined by new comers; Harrow, Lambeth, Haringey and Croydon. North London
Haringey convincingly won the North London Panathlon Final today with an impressive performance, winning Football, Cricket, Kurling, Polybat and Athletics to reach the All London Final for the first time. Runners up were Enfield with a great improvement on their performance last year, 3rd place were Barnet and brining up the rear, last years champions, Waltham Forest – proving what an improved performance from all involved. Well done Haringey – see you at the London Final in June.

South London
A fantastic Panathlon “South” Final took place yesterday at the National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace, with Team Croydon edging out rivals and neighbours Bromley in a thrilling encounter. The final result, went down to the wire and after several years of being on top, LB Bromley were edged out by Croydon who go through to the London Final on June 24th.

Croydon won Boccia, Football, Kurling, Polybat and Athletics and remarkably consistent Bromley came 2nd in all 7 sports. Pictured below is the Winning Croydon captains from the 3 different schools making up their team, with Liz Johnson Paralympic gold Medallist.

West London Final
In the London West final of the 2010 Panathlon Challenge, the team from Harrow achieved an almost perfect score to sweep their opponents aside and proceed triumphantly to the grand final in June. The event took place on 19 March at the West London Academy, Northolt, London. As well as Harrow, teams from the boroughs of Brent, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Ealing took part. All the teams had fought through earlier rounds to reach this stage.

After a full day of sporting contest in 6 separate events, including athletics, cricket, football, kurling, and polybat, the Harrow team achieved maximum points in all the sports except cricket, which was won by their opponents from Brent, to achieve a record score in the Panathlon event.

Jody Cundy, who has represented Great Britain in both swimming and cycling, accumulating an incredible 23 international medals, including 14 Golds, was on hand to encourage the athletes & together with Councillor Barbara Yerolemou, Mayor of the borough of Ealing, hand out medals and prizes.

East Final
Defending London Champions, Barking & Dagenham squeezed through a tight and competitive East London Panathlon Final yesterday. B&D scored 58 points overall, Newham scored 54 and Hackney with 50 came in 3rd place. Redbridge did very well with a smaller team than most coming 4th with 34 points.Barking & Dagenham won the sports of Boccia, Table Cricket, Kurling and Polybat to hold off their competitors and go through to the All London Final on June 24th, where they will be once again looking to be crowned Champions ! Well done to all teams and their competitors.

Central Final
Team Lambeth today were the first team to qualify for the London Final 2010 with a tremendous win at Southfields Sports College in Wandsworth. Lambeth won the sports of Football, Kurling and Athletics to beat their strong competitors of Wandsworth who were previous winners of the Central Panathlon Final. Local MP Kate Hoey visited the event and saw over 125 young disabled competitors compete in a range of sports which saw Camden come 3rd and Westminster in 4th place. Lambeth compete in the Final on June 24th. Well done to you all !!
