Schools from Westminster, Camden and Brent competed at a very special venue on July 3: Lord’s Cricket Ground!

The indoor cricket school at Marylebone Cricket Club, known the world over as the ‘home of cricket’, hosted the Central London Xtend Panathlon.

The usual Panathlon sporting activities were supplemented with one or two cricket-related actvities at this most special of venues.

New sponsors JSS Search provided 16 volunteers, who were trained in the sporting activities in the morning before any competitors arrived and then ran and managed the sports events for the rest of the day.

Steve Hallam, the CEO of JSS Search, said: “We are proud to support Panathlon and see first-hand the determination, talent and competitiveness of the young people taking part. Panathlon creates opportunities that every child deserves, and it was inspiring to see that positive impact today. We are delighted to be able to play a small part in helping make that happen.”

The schools competing all seemed to enjoying competing at an iconic sporting venue. Steve Podmore, a teacher, said, “The team from Swiss Cottage School had a great time and one of the girls was showing her medal off to other passengers on the train ride home!”

Part of the day was also to celebrate ‘Relay your Way‘, a 2,500km relay across Britain that left Glasgow on June 3rd, and has travelled over 2,000 km through almost every major city in Britain before arriving in London, via Lords. Relay your Way celebrates the 1.5 million young people in the UK with disabilities and champions their right to play sport.

The relay baton arrives at Lord’s London, 03/07/2025

The baton arrived at the Grace Gates and came via the Panathlon competition. Later in the day the baton travelled via the Olympic Park and in to central London. A 5K run saw it visit Tower Bridge and London Bridge and our friends at RBC BlueBay joined in and carried the torch across the river for yet another successful leg of its journey.

Many thanks to our friends at Lord’s for hosting and all at JSS Search for providing such excellence support today!
