The Sir Herbert Leon Academy hosted the Lord’s Taverners Regional Boccia U-19s Championships on Thursday 29th of January.
Panathlon delivered this competition for Boccia England, its second Regional Final and sixth competition in all this year. This was for the winners of Bucks, Berks and Oxfordshire.
27 students from 6 schools took part; Slated Row (Milton Keynes), Arbour Vale and Westgate (Slough), Fitzwaryn (Wantage) and Stony Dean (Amersham). Mary Johnson from Boccia England trained the nine leaders from Sir Herbert Leon Academy to officiate throughout the day.
The day started with closely fought pool games that resulted in every school finishing with the same number of points. The two teams from Slough battled it out in the Final for 1st and 2nd Place.
The final results:
1st – Arbour Vale
2nd – Westgate
3rd – Slated Row A
Congratulations to Arbour Vale who go through to the National Final in Sheffield in April.
Many thanks to Sir Herbert Leon Academy who hosted the competitions and also a big thank you to their leaders who once again did a fantastic job! (pictured top left with Mary Johnson from Boccia England)
