The London Borough of Newham started its Panathlon programme today with an “internal Panathlon Day” to select students for its teams in 2011. Six schools and over 50 students taking part in the first part of the selection process before the competition starts in January. Throughout the next 6 months, Newham is hoping to involve a staggering 15 schools within the brough (14 mainstream and 1 special school) in the Panathlon programme.  Panathlon is supplying £1,000 worth of coaching grants to enable over 50 coaching sessions to take place in 2011.

Furthermore, Langdon School is hosting the Panathlon “East” region Powerchair Football Club which Panathlon has supplied 8 wheelchair attachments, balls and coachiong funds., to enable the game of Powerchair football to grow in East London.
