On the 24th April, Panathlon held the North London Primary Panathlon at Northumberland Park School in Haringey. The day, which was funded by the Wembley National Stadium Trust had 7 schools in attendance from Enfield, Haringey and Barnet boroughs; the stage was set for a competitive day of action.

With Northway School from Barnet having previously had Panathlon coaching across some of the sports, it was clear to see they knew what each sport required and had clearly been practising. They scored highly in both Table Cricket and Flight Path but came up against stiff opposition in the form of West Lea School and The Vale A team.

Thank you to our guest from Wembley National Stadium Trust for helping to hand out medals for the day!
Thank you to our guest from Wembley National Stadium Trust for helping to award medals on the day!

A big thank you must go to the leaders from Northumberland Park School who helped run each of the events. For many of them, it was their first time leading in disability sport and the feedback we received from them was humbling; “My name is Jabarry Mussenden and I’m a year 10 student at Northumberland Park School. Today I learnt that disabled children should have the same opportunities as us because we’re all the same. I have had a great day with new friends!”

In the end it was The Vale School who narrowly pinched Gold, ahead of Northway Blue Team in 2nd and West Lea scooping the Bronze. We’re looking forward to next year’s competition to see who comes back stronger!

“Today was extremely well organised and timed. It’s accessible for all of our children who like to know what each activity entails and don’t like waiting for any length of time.” – Graham Bolding, Teacher at Russet House School, Enfield.

“A great event thank you. We thought it was very well organised and all activities were well suited and adapted to our pupils.”
– Melodie Harrison, The Brook School, Haringey.
