Twelve year 10 Sports Leaders from Northumberland Park Community School, Haringey acted as Panathlon leaders for the first time at the North Final today (March 6) at Southbury Leisure centre.

This was the Sports Leaders first experience at officiating at a disability sports event. Helped by the days training Panathlon delivered, the Leaders took charge of Boccia, Table Cricket, New Age Kurling, Polybat and athletics. The twelve Leaders did really well, the experience was made more interesting due to the fact the leaders go to the same school as half the Panathlon team. The Vale special school is located on the same site as Northumberland Park, so it gave the leaders a new insight in to what their counterparts could achieve. Students who normally join each other for maths and English, joined each other for the Panathlon Challenge.

Tony Millard, Panathlon Manager, Haringey.
