This week we have been in the West Midlands for 3 days of activity involving 88 competitors from 7 schools with 50 leaders. We have held two Birmingham semi-finals, one for the north and for the south leading to the Birmingham Final on Thursday 5th March at Sutton College. A training day was held at Chantry School in Worcestershire preparing those leaders for the first Worcestershire Multi-Sport Panathlon on Wednesday 25th February.
On Tuesday 9th it was our first semi-final at Sutton College and we had 33 students from 3 schools. It was a very competitive day with Wilson Stuart School starting out on their journey to defend their Birmingham wide title. It was a very strong start from all the teams, with Fairfax pushing Wilson Stuart all the way. The two qualifies from the North for the Birmingham final are Wilson Stuart and Fairfax.
On Wednesday 10th we visited the neighbouring County of Worcestershire to prepare 22 leaders to officiate at their first Panathlon Competition later in the year. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and are looking forward to using the skills gained from their training.
Thursday 11th saw our final day of activity where it was the south’s turn for their semi-final. An overall consistent performance from Hall Green saw them make the final for the second year in a row. Joining them in the final on the 5th March is a new finalist the team from Baskerville.
For a full set of both results see here. We look forward to seeing Wilson Stuart, Fairfax, Hall Green and Baskerville compete in the final!
