Several Panathlon competitors and Ambassadors took part in the first ever Superhero Series Triathlon at the Olympic venue of Dorney Lake on Saturday August 19.

Panathlon competitors taking part included Ben Warne, pictured crossing the line here (left). “This is a fantastic day,” said Ben. “I’ve had great fun!”

Ben was cheered on by huge support from family and friends and all had a thoroughly enjoyable day out (read Ben’s blog here). His dad Darren said: “We want to thank Panathlon for everything they have introduced to us. So many more avenues opened up for the future!”

Our Ambassador Liz Johnson, veteran of 50 Panathlon events across the country over the last nine years including swimming twice for us in Team Panathlon within London Triathlon, captained a very special team of three.

Liz’s team included another great friend of Panathlon, Neve Allen, who was competing in her first triathlon after another busy year of Panathlon activity. Liz said: “It’s great to be partnering a Panathlon competitor in this special event. I hope I don’t let the team down!”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANeve, pictured on the main image above, (and right with Liz) brought the team home after Ian’s swim, and Liz on the bike leg. Neve said: “It’s been an amazing day, I loved it all and met so many Paralympic heroes.”

Neve this year also competed in the Virgin Mini-Marathon for the first time with another friend of Panathlon, Toby Sweenycroft (both pictured below with Liz and tennis ace, Gordon Reid.)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAToby was part of Paralympic star Susie Rogers’ team and once again brought his team home with a blistering push in the final leg.

Also taking part was another Panathlon charity Patron, Helen Turner, who had roped in both husband and son in their three ‘man’ team.

Helen said: “It’s great to be back competing and being part of the wider Team Panathlon and a bonus having the family along too. I’ve visited many Panathlon events over the years as a guest so I know the great work they do, so it’s nice to give something back today, even if it meant a bit of effort on my part!” Helen, James and Luke are pictured below!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
