Today we delivered an Officials Course in a new area for us, as our first ever Panathlon in Portsmouth will take place in March. We delivered the Panathlon Officials Course to 34 first year University of Portsmouth students between the ages of 18 and 20. As one of the modules in their Sports Development Degree, the Panathlon course offered insight into disability sport and more specifically sports which have been further adapted for Primary aged children.
Each student had the opportunity to play and officiate the Panathlon sports including New Age Kurling, Field Athletics, Table Cricket, Polybat, Precision Beanbag and Boccia. All did exceptionally well and will demonstrate their new skills at the upcoming Panathlon competition.
We look forward to working with Portsmouth University at their Panathlon event in the Spring term.
“Thank you for coming to deliver this training today. The students have learnt a lot and it’s made them aware of how sports can be adapted. It’s good to see them learning the rules of a range of games and then being able to break them down and explain them clearly to me. I’m now looking forward to see how they deal with the competition in March”
