Panathlon involved over 350 young disabled Londoners playing football in 2009 and seeks to increase this number in 2010. In order to do this, Panathlon and its partners are investing around £25,000 in setting up 5 Clubs across London, with equipment and coaching sessions and providing a London wide competition in the summer of 2010.
Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust will organise coach training across London through the Wheelchair Football Association, generating hundreds of hours of specialised coaching and will help to establish the 5 new Powerchair football clubs across the Capital. Panathlon will supply these clubs with the necessary equipment required to play the game. The main aim is to organise a Pan London Powerchair competition in June 2010 between the 5 new clubs with the support and co-operation of the Wheelchair Football Association.
Panathlon Challenge is a charity funded by the Football Foundation and the Mayor of London, to deliver sporting opportunities across the capital and is delighted to be working with two professional football clubs to deliver football opportunities for young wheelchair users across the capital in 2010.
