On the 9th December, Panathlon delivered a Primary Panathlon competition for the schools in the West London boroughs. The event, which was supported by the John Lyons Charity, included 7 teams from 7 different schools, totalling 56 students. For many of the schools, this competition was a fantastic opportunity to utilise the skills that they previously learnt at an in-school Primary Panathlon coaching day.
In the early stages, Woodlands School (Harrow) and Village School (Brent), posted high scores in both Table Cricket and Volleybat, but a fantastic effort from Queens Elizabeth 2nd and College Park (representing Westminster) saw them battling it out for a medal position. After 2 hours of exciting competition, it was a consistent team effort from Queensmill School (Hammersmith & Fulham) that saw them pinch the Gold Medal away from Westminster in 2nd and Brent in 3rd.
A big thank you must go to the 16 Young Leaders from Isleworth and Syon School who help officiate the various activities on the day.
“It’s really fulfilling to be able to work with the children and help them with these activities as they don’t get to do this sports every day.”
Frankie, Sports Leader from Isleworth.
“It’s been a great day all the kids have enjoyed themselves, they are very new to the events but they’ve had a really good experience from today. A lot of our primary school children don’t get an opportunity to do anything like this and it’s been a great day. We need a lot more of these events for primary.”
Sam Nash, Village School- Brent
