We held our second East London qualifier yesterday at Langdon Academy, which played host to 87 students from 15 schools in Newham, Barking & Dagenham, Havering & Redbridge. A big thank you to 15 sport leaders from Langdon Academy who officiated so well at all the sports.

It was a close competition throughout with Redbridge taking the early lead in the morning session. But by the races in the afternoon, B&D and Redbridge were tied. B&D went in to another gear to win the flat athletics beating Redbridge who came second, this meant that B&D won the competition by 2 points.

It was extremely close for second and third with Redbridge and Newham both scoring 44 points. On countback Redbridge had won more sports than Newham so took second. Newham who will now be hotly tipped to follow Redbridge as London Plate Champions will have a good contest at the East London Finals in March. For a full set of results see here.

B&D excelled in the New Age Kurling, scoring a maximum of 4-0 in one of their ends. This is the first 4-0 end of this season. Their Kurling team racked up an impressive 17 points over their games.

Redbridge enter the Panathlon Book of Records with an incredible Table Cricket score of 338 in one of their games. They also scored 327 runs in their opening match meaning their new record was no fluke. B&D, who came second in the Cricket had scores of 318 & 312 runs and in all, there were 6 scores over 300. This was the highest scoring Table Cricket competition we’ve seen.
