North London’s second qualifier was held at Hendon Leisure Centre on January 29th, which hosted 84 competiors from 11 schools, making up teams from Brent, Harrow, Hammersmith & Fulham & Westminster.
The competitions were supported by 17 leaders from Whitefield Academy & two ex-Whitmore High School students who are former Panathlon Champions, so we knew we were in good hands.
Harrow the reigning London Champions, started this year where they finished last year in supreme form, with victories in 5 out of the 6 disciplines. They were exceptional in the Kurling in particular, where they played 9 ends scoring 19 points, an incredible average of 2 points per game!

H&F gave a very strong challenge to Harrow’s dominance throughout the day in particular in Boccia, where they won their game against Harrow, on countback, Harrow took the Gold due to higher scoring.
In the field athletics, Harrow won 2 golds & 2 silvers, H&F won 2 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze. In the races athletics, Harrow & H&F tied, with 3 golds & 1 silver each but on count back and the next race scoring, Harrow took the 10 points. To see a full set of results see here.
Brent won the Table Cricket competition with 282 runs, then 264 runs in the gold medal match. They had a knack of taking wickets including 7 in the finals! Wesminster’s boccia team were the highest scoring of the day, with 7 points scored in one match.
Outstanding individual performances of the day included Sami from Brent & Thanushan from Harrow’s 56 High Score in the Precision Bean Bag, Rudi from H&F 14 metre Javelin throw and Will from Brent shot putt of 10 metres.
