Panathlon welcomed Aspen to its family of supporters in early 2023 after agreeing a three-year funding partnership.
The specialty insurance and reinsurance company wasted no time in helping us create even more sporting opportunities for young people with disabilities and special needs by generously providing £20,000 per year.
The funding is helping Panathlon engage at least 1,000 more competitors and Young Leaders across England and Wales per year – building on the record 50,000+ who took part in our sporting competitions in 2021/22!
Aspen’s support strengthened still further when their staff volunteered their time as Panathlon Leaders at a Primary Panathlon competition at Westway Sports Centre in London in March 2023.

One of Aspen’s volunteers on the day, Emma Harris, was left in no doubt about Panathlon’s impact on children with SEND, having witnessed it first hand.
She said: “It was plain to see how much this day meant to the children, with almost every child’s hand raised when we asked, ‘Who wants to go first?’ as well as their excitement when they got a high score and beaming smiles when being awarded a medal.”
Liz Johnson, Panathlon Ambassador and Paralympic swimming champion, said: “We are delighted to
welcome Aspen’s support which will generate new life-enhancing opportunities for young people with disabilities and special educational needs.”
Deirdre Brennan, Aspen’s Global Head of Reinsurance Underwriting Operations and Change Projects, commented: “We are proud to be supporting Panathlon knowing our contribution and continued support will have a positive impact on the great work they do. Every young person should have the opportunity to take part in a competitive sport.”
