Congratulations to the four runners from Team Panathlon who completed this year’s London Marathon!
All four runners came from organisations who are long-standing supporters of our work: Ellie Cloves from RBC Brewin, Victoria Karpinski from JSS Search, Kedi Huang from Aspen and Georgina Stevens from the Woodland Group.
And they all crossed the finish line to claim their medal on Sunday, with official finish times as follows:
- Victoria: 3.48.01
- Kedi: 4.15.24
- Georgina: 4.43.38
- Ellie: 4.47.09
Between them, they have now raised £15,000 to support our work – with more coming in. It is an incredible achievement and we are so grateful to them and their organisations’ ongoing backing for what we do.
“I just wanted to say thank you so much for allowing me to run the marathon for Panathlon,” says Ellie. “I was the last wave to go off – I’d been a bit off with my predicted time by a few hours – so I didn’t start until past 11, and even then, it was so hot! I absolutely loved the first half and according to my family when they saw me, I was bouncing along at a good pace.
“I hit the wall around Canary Wharf, partly due to the heat and partly due to seeing the same building about five times from every angle. However, seeing my family and friends around mile 24 really motivated me to keep pushing onwards.
“After finishing I felt so proud of myself; this has been such a challenge for me, and I still can’t believe I have gone from having never running a mile back in August to a marathon!”
Georgina says: “I am extremely grateful to Panathlon for allowing me to run the London Marathon, an absolute once-in-a-lifetime experience. With everything going on in the world, the incredible support from what felt like the whole of London on Sunday was truly amazing to be part of. I loved the training, and while I found the day itself really tough, the energy carried me through. Most importantly, it was all for such a wonderful charity. Thank you again, Panathlon – and despite the pain, it hasn’t put me off doing another!”
