Twenty-four runners proudly wore the Panathlon logo on their chests as they joined 15,000 participants in Sunday’s Royals Parks Half-Marathon past some of London’s most iconic landmarks.
On what was a beautifully warm autumnal weekend, ‘Team Panathlon’ was made up of runners from our sponsors Woodland Group, International Food Link (IFL), BlueBay Asset Management, EQ Investors, John Lewis and individual runners also raising money to support our work.
Twelve runners represented Woodland Group, who have supported Panathlon for 10 years. Chairman Kevin Stevens said: “What a wonderful day! We had lots of support and it was a supreme effort from everyone involved. Well done team Woodland and IFL, you made us all very proud! This was another great fundraiser for an unbelievable charity in Panathlon Challenge.”

Carlos Toban from IFL flew back to the UK from Spain to run in the event. He said: “We have supported Panathlon for many years and love the work they do with children with disabilities. It is something that our staff at IFL and colleagues at Woodland Group are very keen supporters of.”
You can still donate to the Woodland Group running team on their VirginMoney Giving page.
The runners also included Matt Lewis from another long-term supporter, EQ Foundation, who was ‘fresh’ from running last week’s London Marathon! He was joined by his wife Dani (pictured below) this week in wearing the Team Panathlon colours.

Several runners were representing BlueBay Asset Management – one of our newest sponsors. They included Nicolo Capello, Brent David and Mark Hobbs. Matt Richards from their charity committee was also there to support his team. He said: “It is great to be here to see colleagues run for Team Panathlon and we look forward to being able to volunteer again at a Panathlon event in the near future.”

One of our colleagues from Wandsworth, Nick Miller, acted as a guide runner for blind ex-Panathlete Jack Kirkby in the 2019 Royal Parks Half. Nick ran again this year with his daughter Ella May. So far, Nick and Ella have raised over £800 for Panathlon and we thank them for their dedication!

Nick has worked with Panathlon in south west London for nearly 20 years and sees the benefit first hand. He has been especially involved with our in-school Virtual Programme through the pandemic.
It was good to see ex-Panathlon employee Chris Rayner (now of Colchester High School) clocking up the miles once again and raising monies for us too.

It was also great to have friends from John Lewis continue their tradition of running for Panathlon which goes back to 2013. Our partnership began after London 2012 when their Stratford store overlooking the Olympic Park funded us and hosted several special Panathlon awards ceremonies. Katherine Norman and Paul Tier enjoyed their run. You can still sponsor them on their fundraising page.
