Students and schools from the north-east of England acquitted themselves in style at the England National Primary Ten-Pin Bowling Finals – with the highest national individual score on show.
Ty Wilson of Hurworth House School in Darlington was the national individual highest scorer, with 141 – but he deflected any praise directed at him, saying: “This is a team game, everyone did really well. It isn’t all about me, it’s everyone.”

PE teacher Gavin Todd said: “It’s amazing news for Ty to win best score in the country. The whole school is really proud of what Ty achieved today. The confidence this will bring to the whole school regarding sport will be amazing and we can’t wait to enter more events with Panathlon in the future.”
