Panathlon Challenge has recently held two F.A. coaching courses, specifically designed to enable our coaches to become better coaches and deliver more inclusive and enjoyable football sessions, for our players with all abilities. First off was a “Coaching Disabled Footballers” Course in October that 20 Panathlon coaches attended.
The latest of these was the F.A. Coaching Visually Impaired Footballers course. Coaches learned how to create an effective learning environment, from safety issues to communication with players. The highlight of the course was when the coaches were given a chance to gain experience of playing football when blindfolded.
This was a new experience for many, has increased their understanding of just how hard the game is to play! In turn, this will help with planning of sessions involving fully blind (B1) players.
Coaches from Brentford FC, Arsenal and AFC Wimbledon attended amongst many others.
Here’s a picture of how our coaches orientated themselves to their surroundings.
The next Panathlon Football course is in conjunction with the Wheelchair Football Association on December 20th for Powerchair Football. Get in touch if you’d like to know more !
