A quartet of colleges in north Wales have taken their first steps into Panathlon competition.
Students from the four colleges who are part of Grŵp Llandrillo Menai enjoyed their multi-sports day in Llangefni, Ynys Mon (Anglesey) in December – and there will be more to come.
Ollie Coles has been developing inclusive sporting competitions for learners across the four colleges.
And Panathlon is the perfect fit.
He knew about Panathlon’s offering as some students act as Young Leaders at events elsewhere – as they did at this one, supporting Ollie’s staff team of four.
“It was brilliant,” he says. “Every learner was fully engaged, which is really nice to see.”

The colleges are spread across north Wales, meaning that learners from one might not get to meet those from another – but Panathlon gave them a chance to travel to another part of the country and nteract with people they didn’t speak to in the normal course of things.
“That’s definitely part of the experience,” says Ollie.
And he would thoroughly recommend Panathlon to other schools and colleges.

”The communication throughout the planning, delivery and review of the event has been fantastic,” he says. “The event itself was brilliantly organised with the organisation providing everything we needed from a planning perspective.”
He adds: “I would highly recommend Panathlon to any school or college and can’t wait to work with the team on more events and sports. The positive experiences and memories our learners will have created from the event are priceless and we are incredibly grateful to Panathlon for their support!”
