Yesterday the Panathlon Team visited the “Next Generation Sports Centre” in Swindon to host the Wiltshire Panathlon.

Athletes from St Nicholas, Brimble Hill, Uplands, Crowdy Hills and Rowdeford formed the teams and competed in what was an enjoyable and hard fought competition. At lunch the top two teams, Crowdys Hill & St Nicholas, the current Champions, were on equal points.

It was the races that separated these teams, with Crowdys Hill “running away with it” to become our new Panathlon Champions. It was their first ever victory at a Panathlon Competition, so many congratulations to them!

The event was ably supported by our newly trained officials from Greendown Community School and also Peter from Disability Sports Coach who head up all the Athletics event.

I was impressed by the spirit of the competition and the enjoyment of all the pupils. Particular mention to the students and teachers from Rowdeford School, who were involved in Panathlon for the first time. We hope to see them again!
