Panathlon Challenge will receive £1 for every run scored by the Essex Eagles in their T20 Vitality Blast home matches this summer thanks to our sponsors Woodland Group.

Woodland Group has been a major Panathlon supporter since 2011, allowing us to expand our programmes of sporting competitions for children with disabilities and special needs across Essex and beyond.

Woodland Group team members have volunteered at numerous Panathlon events over the last decade as well as completing some extraordinary fundraising feats including the London to Paris cycle ride in 2014, the Three Peaks Challenge in 2019 and most recently 17 of their riders raised £12,500 as part of Team Panathlon in May’s 100-mile Ride London event.

This summer, Woodland Group are uniting with Essex Players to raise further funds for the charity. With the home games played just a stone’s throw away from Woodland Group’s headquarters in Chelmsford, it’s a great way to motivate the team with a good cause at heart.

Every run scored by the home side in their seven Vitality Blast fixtures this summer will see £1 donated to Panathlon. Three matches thus far against Hampshire Hawks, Kent Spitfires and Middlesex have accrued £152, £135 and £186 respectively.

Woodland Group will present a cheque for the final amount at the last game of the season against Glamorgan on July 2, where several local Panathlon competitors will attend as special guests.

“We are delighted with this latest fundraising idea from our friends at Woodland Group,” said Panathlon CEO Ashley Iceton. “Their support and enthusiasm for what we do and dedication to fundraising is massively appreciated.

Best of luck to the Eagles, we hope to see many more runs through the rest of the season!”
