The warm summer sunshine saw 144 golfers leave their desks behind for the day to enjoy the fresh air and sunny skies – all to benefit the Panathlon charity.

The Woodland Group organised their second Golf Day involving customers, clients and suppliers at the Heron Country Club near Brentwood in Essex.

Golfers also had the opportunity to win £10,000 on the hole-in-one challenge, on two different holes on the course. For a donation to the Panathlon charity, golfers could try to win the amazing cash prize. 144 attempts later, we had no winners on the day, but a few extra pounds donated to the Panathlon cause!

Due to the generosity of the Woodland Group and all the golfers there, an amazing £18,000 was raised through the day, including a raffle and auction, all in aid of the Panathlon charity.

Dave Fulton from Sky Sports was the host and auctioneer and people kindly bid for sporting memorabilia, tickets to experiences and a backstage visit to The Last Leg, courtesy of our ambassador Alex Brooker, who kindly gifted the prize.

The overall winner of the team event was Team Stanton Hockett who won the Woodland Golf Cup.

Jason Kilby, Panathlon CEO, said, “I can’t thank Woodland Group enough for their generosity and quality of organising this golf day. With 144 golfers enjoying a fabulous day, it was great to meet so many people willing to support Panathlon. Jason and Luke’s (among others) support of Panathlon over such a long period of time has been incredible.

“As well as raising over £18,000 from one event to support Panathlon activities, they created a really welcoming environment leading, we hope, to many new partnerships. We truly appreciate it.”

Many thanks to everyone at the Woodland Group for their hard work putting this day together. The amount raised will provide over 1,000 children with special needs and disabilities with sporting participation through Panathlon in the coming year.

This support is on the back of Woodland staff recently volunteering at the East London finals and their further fundraising for Panathlon through their links with Essex Cricket Club.

Many thanks to all the players and the team at the Heron Country Club and of course Woodland Group, for making it all possible.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
